What is a masterclass?

Masterclasses are a chance for our global partners to engage with our attendees in a live interactive environment. They allow our partners to curate content for Collision attendees in a private and dedicated virtual room on our event platform. The masterclasses will be hosted live at a scheduled time during the conference, followed by a live Q&A at the end.

All masterclasses will have an allocated time slot of 30 minutes. We recommend that you split your masterclass into 20 minutes of content and 10 minutes for a Q&A with the audience. Masterclasses give you the chance to position yourself as an industry leader in front of a targeted audience, while also generating quality leads.

What is included as part of your masterclass?

  • 30-minute presentation slot
  • Private video hosting link
  • Real-time interaction with attendees
  • Logo on the masterclass web page
  • Newsletter feature to targeted audience
  • Masterclass feature in the app schedule

Attendees will be able to sign up for the masterclass through our dedicated landing page in the weeks leading up to Collision. Conference participants will be able to access the masterclass during the scheduled time and submit questions throughout the session.

Masterclass guidelines

All masterclasses will have an allocated time slot of 30 minutes. We recommend you split your masterclass into 20 minutes of content and 10 minutes of Q&A.

We recommend one to two hosts per masterclass. Each masterclass can have a maximum of four hosts.

All masterclass hosts must complete their app profiles as far in advance as possible, in order to feature in the schedule.

Please carefully review our masterclass guidelines here to help you prepare for your live session.

If you plan on screen-recording your live masterclass session for the purpose of sharing it with your network after the event, please let your partner success manager know.

Important things to note before your live masterclass session.

  • Avoid playing videos during your presentation.
  • We ask that all hosts check the speed of their internet connection before their session. Go to fast.com to run a quick check for download and upload speed. The minimum requirement for effective video calls is 8Mbps download / 1.5 Mbps upload.
  • Please ensure you are using a laptop or desktop computer on the day of your session. The web app doesn’t work on tablets or on smartphones.
  • Please check the camera and audio is working on the laptop or desktop you are using.
  • The recommended browser is Google Chrome.
  • Avoid having too many tabs open in the browser.
  • Don’t be on a Google Hangout and in the room on the web app at the same time.
Deadlines and forms

Please use this form to submit your masterclass title and synopsis for review by the deadline, March 26.

Once you have confirmed your masterclass details,  please select your preferred masterclass time slot by March 26 using the link here. Please note: time slots are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Curating an incredible masterclass

Avoid sales pitches at all costs. Attendees don’t like them and they don’t work. Masterclasses are an opportunity to position yourself as a thought leader, so presenting curated, engaging, high-quality, topical content is a must. Share your experience, insights and know-how in areas such as leadership, strategy, policy, entrepreneurship, development, etc.

 Examples of previous masterclass topics:

  • ‘2021 social media trends’ – Falcon.io
  • ‘High-performing technology teams’ – Google
  • ‘How IoT will change the world’ – Siemens
  • ‘Women in technology: Power your tomorrow’ – TD Bank Group
  • ‘Building digital relationships through communication’ – Twilio

Synopsis guidelines

The synopsis of your masterclass is your elevator pitch. It’s your chance to grab the audience prior to the session. Whether you are solving a problem or discussing the latest trends, make sure the synopsis is short (200 characters or fewer) and engaging and addresses the topic. Keep your target audience in mind. Don’t include too much detail, and remember: less is more.

To maximise your masterclass’s exposure in the lead up to the event, please use this form to submit your title and synopsis by the deadline of March 26. All content is subject to approval.

If you are presenting slides during your masterclass session and wish to share these with the attendees post event, please discuss this with your partner success manager.
